Tru-Cape supports Peace in My City towards Silencing the Guns.

The 6th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace – Peace Walk was held on  Saturday, 25th of May in Cape Town.
Sarah-Jane Frith, Regional Manager, The International Peace Youth Group, Southern Africa Branch said the theme of “Silencing the Guns”, was also a commemoration celebrating Africa Day as a means to promote a culture of peace, unity and harmony in Africa. “While we celebrated in Cape Town, the peace walk was also held in 126 cities in 77 countries including Australia, China, Germany, India, Russia, the Philippines and United States of America.” she says.
Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing, the largest exporter of South African apples and pears has supported this essential initiative for three years running now and this year donated 1000 apples for participants. Tru-Cape Marketing Director Conrad Fick says that the company shares the goals of inclusivity and tolerance as tools towards ending violence and establishing peace.
Inspired by the vision of HWPL, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, to achieve peace through the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, 1502 people attended the event, all united with the hope of achieving the continent we all long for, a peaceful and secure Africa.
As the keynote speaker, Dr Rhuks Temitope Ako of the Peace and Security Department at the African Union (AU) and co-convener of the Youth For Peace Programme shared that: “Today, as it is Africa Day, is a day to remind [the member states of the AU] of promises they made to the citizens of this continent – that peace and development is what we deserve and it is not too much to ask for.”
“The DPCW permeates the will of global citizens and asks for the global community to become one under peace with respect of mutual coexistence. This Declaration advocates for everyone to cooperate towards building peace so that there may be no more production of weapons as well as invasions of countries. As the national leaders support the 10 articles and 38 clauses of the DPCW and religions harmonise for peace, the global community can take the road to peace together.”  Chairman Lee of HWPL said.
